Visually it was really good. For imaging with a one shot colour camera (such as a DSLR) the correction was not good enough and my star images were fringed with colour. It would be great if used with a Mono camera and filters as the Chromatic aberration is then immaterial as each filter will be focused separately….

I also use a Celestron C11 – with a Teleskop Optics F8 reducer – this is great with a flat field and is a fab Galaxy imager FOV just right for framing Galaxies and sampling at 0.5 arcsec per pixel – seeing limited really. Autoguiding has to be (yes) using an off axis guider, simply because the primary mirror is not fixed in an SCT such as this and the mirror moves as the scope is guided across the sky. I have some great star trail images to prove my assertion of OAG Required…

My new venture is following an idea I was introduced to by Greg Parker, who runs the New forest observatory. Put a 200mm Lens on the Canon1000d – this will be focused by a focuser I built using the great SGL ASCOM focuser project – can be found on yahoo groups. This setup will give me a nice wide field of view to complement my galaxy imager.

The scope of my experience (apols) is as follows: I used a 6 inch refractor which was corrected for chromatic aberration – it was good and I still have it, although I probably won’t use it any more.
