Gower Observatory is blessed with gloriously dark skies when we get to see them…
The observatory runs a Celestron C11 reflector and specialist camera which is configured as a galaxy imager, and a Canon 1000d SLR attached to a 200mm Canon lens, which acts a wide field capture system. Some of the images on this site were taken with a Canon 1000d SLR body attached to a 6 inch refractor (courtesy of Greg Parker at New Forest Observatory). The telescopes are mounted on a Mesu 200 Mount guided by a small refractor with a Starlight Express lodestar Camera. it’s an automated observatory, which means remote control when the temperature outside can be sub zero.
For the two year period 2018-2020, imaging was on hold whilst I made a new dome for the observatory. The dome is based on a modified geodome plan and is documented in the dome pages on this site.
I hope you enjoy looking at the images.
